Welcome to Part 2 in this 3 part mini series – How to growing your Social Media.

Yesterday I introduced Key 1 of How to Grow your social Media.  Hopefully, I helped you discover Who YOU are and who you are talking too.  If you haven’t watched Part 1 yet, Be sure to go back and watch it HERE.

Yesterday we laid the groundwork.  You CANNOT skip this step.  As I explained yesterday, you MUST know who you are, what your mission is and who the heck you are talking to.  I even included a freebie yesterday to help you figure out who your ideal client is.  So today, we are going to talk about Key #2 which is Posting value on your page.

Every time I set down to create a course or make a video, or draft a post, I think of Willow and I write to her directly.
Yesterday we touched base on this just a little but we are going to go in depth.
When you go onine to post on social media, first, think of who you are talking to, Your ideal client.  It may help to even give her/him a name.  I have an ideal client for courses that I create.  I named her Willow because the willow tree is flexible, bending to the storms yet strong and never breaking.  When I first figured out my ideal client, the name Willow popped into my head because it was so much like my ideal client, flexible, strong, and beautiful.

So every time I set down to create a course or make a video, or draft a post, I think of Willow and I write to her directly.  I know her problem areas that I help solve.  I also know she is probably a mom with a crazy busy life.  She is an online entrepreneur.  LOVES Target and coffee.  She wants to work out or at least do yoga but hasn’t found the time to fit it in.   Her favorite thing to do is hang with her kids/family and they are most likely her WHY.  She has a burning desire for something more in her life and determined to achieve her dream life and freedom on her terms. I know all of this about Willow so when I sit down to post, it makes it easier to talk to her.  It is like talking to a dear friend over coffee at Starbucks.  DO NOT just post anything and everything.  My “willow” wouldn’t really stop the scroll to read if I reposted a video on how to fix the dryer.  Ok, well maybe she would because she is probably a do it yourselfer.  LOL.

The point is, I need to make posts that add value to her life and that will help her grow in her life and business.  When I do that, I set myself up as an authority in my field.

Let’s say you are with an MLM and sell makeup.  Yet every day, you are reposting recipes and cat videos.  Occasionally you copy and paste a photo of a sale your upline posted.  How does that make your followers feel?  They problem aren’t very interested, right?  Ok so what if I posted makeup tutorials and hacks on a weekly basis? Okkkk, now I am talking directly to my ideal client.  Now she wants to stalk me every week to see what new value I will be posting.

I want you to scroll through your Social Media.  What does your last 5 posts say about you and your business? Do you post random things? Do you seem all over the place? OR are you talking directly to the life and problems of your ideal client and showing them you can help?

You also need to know the language that your clients/followers are using.  Are they peaceful, high vibing, spiritual women? Are they professionals? Are they moms with small children who spent all day with no human contact except Dora the Explorer? Or is she a woman working the 9-5 and so desperate to get out of the office life?  Knowing this will help you know how she speaks which in turn will help you better write copy for posts, sales pages, videos etc.

Let’s go back to your worksheet from yesterday.  What is your ideal client reading right now?  I explained earlier that my ideal client is Willow.  She is probably reading, Girl Wash Your Face right now.  So I can go over to Amazon and search that book or a few similar books.  Once I find that book, I can scroll down to comments and start reading.  A lot of those people will most likely be in my ideal client target area.  So their comments gives me an idea of how they think and speak.  I can also go over into Facebook into Rachel Hollis (the book’s Author) and start reading comments there. This helps me familiarize myself with how my ideal client speaks and thinks.

Ok, so now I know Who I am, what my mission is, who I am talking to and how she thinks and speaks.  So now I am ready to starting making posts.

So I have a Social Media “plan” let’s call it.  I pick 3-5 areas that my mission addresses for my client.  Now remember, my ideal client is Willow who is a busy mom, wearing a bunch of hats, trying to build an online empire so she can live her definition of freedom.  So I designed a plan to talk about motivation (probably quotes) because let’s face it being an online entrepreneur and even being a mom gets crazy hard some days and we ALL want to give up at some point.  Then I talk about family because that is most likely her WHY, her driving force behind everything she does, then there is online entrepreneur stuff because that is what I do and how I can help.  I also talk about Traveling because I love it and owning my own business has allowed me to do that.  My ideal client is dreaming of having more time freedom so she can travel with the family.  And last I talk about Positive Mindset because I believe the mind and personal development is the groundwork for success in life and basically what helps us mommas stay sane.

OK so my social media plan is:

Motivational quotes
Family
Online Entrepreneurship
Travel
Positive Mindset

Now that I have a plan, I want to write something that will speak to my audience.  I want to make them feel like I am speaking directly to THEM.

Let’s imagine you are with an MLM selling Essential Oils.  Which of these two posts do you thing will attract genuine interaction and attention?

Post #1 Copied picture from upline describing monthly sale and a post that says  I just heard the news, my company is offering a Black Friday sale of an extra 15% off.  Comment below for my link to get in on this awesome sale.

Post #2 – A pic of you on the couch sipping hot tea while your two little ones are playing in the floor with a post that says Seems everyone around us are getting sick.  So I am being proactive with my thieves tea.  As a mom of these two little princesses, I don’t have time to get sick”

I promise you that Post 2 is going to relate to more people.  It will start conversations.  It will open doors.  It will spark curiosity.  AND you don’t come off salesy which is HUGE.  People don’t want to be sold too.  They want you to share your experiences.  That experience, that feeling is what will get the sale in the end, not that sales ad you copied from your upline.  Gary V teaches a method called hook hook jab.  Basically what that is is you get them interested in post then peak their curiosity again in another post and finally sale in the third.  STOP trying to sale your products or join your team in every post.

If you are posting value and forming real relationships with your followers, they will come to you.  It is called attraction marketing.  There is a saying that says, Facts TELL stories sale.

So just share your life, share your passions, share you, and they followers will come. Remember this:

Your brand is YOU and not your PRODUCT
Your story will make the sale.  People want the feelings more than they want the products.

That is all for today.  Tomorrow I will be coming with the final Part 3 in this mini series.  I want to leave you with some questions.  Like yesterday, I want you to Get a journal out and write each one down each question.  Dig down deep and answer each question.

What is your ideal client’s name?

What phrases/language does she use often?
